This is Ranjita Biswas, journalist, writer and translator of fiction from regional language (Assamese) into English. Presently  I am based in Kolkata, formerly Calcutta.

After working in two leading national dailies of India, I opted for freelancing to enjoy more freedom and flexibility to explore new avenues. At present, I am editor of Trans World Features, the only syndicated feature service in eastern India, with a wide client base across the country.

I also write independently specializing on women & gender issues, health,  environ, art & culture, films etc. and contribute to major Indian publications and internaitonal wire services.

Travel is a passion and it forms a major chunk of my work. I like to explore the history, art and culture, and culinary traditions of the destinations  which form the core of my travel stories.

I have ten published books to my credit .

Translated from the Sahitya Akdemi winning book by Assamese writer Arupa Patangia Kalita ..
